Introduction

Working Principle

The AD7685ARMZ works based on successive-approximation-based sampling techniques. It employs a 3-stage interleaved conversion scheme with a programmable sample rate up to 400 KHz. For SEI applications it can convert up to 8 independent channels, while in DI applications it can convert up to 4 differential channels. SEI conversion requires two clock cycles to convert a single sample, while DI conversion requires four clock cycles per sample. The first stage is the track-and-hold stage, where the input signal is stored until it is ready to be converted. The second stage is the conversion stage where the analog input is digitized and stored in the internal register. The final stage is the transfer stage, where the data is transferred out of the device and into the ARM Cortex-M4 processor for further processing.

The ARM Cortex-M4 processor helps reduce total system cost by better utilizing the internal and external resources. It helps to quickly analyze and process the incoming data and can even provide feedback control to the system.
