It is a CMOS-based, precision, three-terminal, monolithic, low-power, low-voltage, quad-channel comparator/amplifier IC. Each output channel has its own supply voltage pins, allowing the device to operate over a wide range of supply voltages.The device is optimized for use in analog-to-digital conversion, multiplexer and switching applications. It has a wide variety of applications such as thermocouple measurements, temperature measurement, relay control, vibration sensing, force sensing, and so on.The AD790JR is engineered to be an extremely versatile device, with an output voltage range of up to ±15V, and a wide operating voltage range of up to ±15V. It has an input voltage range of up to ±16V and a maximum output current of up to 10mA per channel. The device has a very low power consumption of only 30μA per channel and a wide operating temperature range from −40°C to +85°C. Furthermore, the device can operate at frequencies of up to 20MHz and has an input voltage offset voltage of up to 2mV.The working principle of the device is based on the comparison of two input signals. When the input signals are the same, the output is 0V; if the input signals are different, the output is either positive or negative. The output voltage is determined by the difference between the two inputs. AD790JR is a quad-channel comparator, meaning it has four independent channels that can be used for comparison.
