It offers 1 mV, LSB INL (integral non-linearity) and a THD (total harmonic distortion) of –150 dB that allows it to produce greater accuracy.

Working principle

The basic principle behind the working of the AD7923BRUZ is the classic flash ADC architecture. A flash ADC is an analog to digital converter that converts an analog voltage to a digital representation with a single comparison. The AD7923BRUZ enable rapid conversion from analog to digital form. This ADC has an internal 5-bit current-source DAC (digital to analog converter) and a charge redistribution SAR (Successive Approximation Register). The SAR converter converts the analog input signal to a digital output by successively approximating the value of the input signal.

When the AD7923BRUZ is powered up, the SAR logic stores the analog input voltage in its 5-bit DAC. It then reconfigures the DAC to store the next approximation of the input voltage. This process continues till all the bits of the DAC have been compared and the comparator decides the required output. The final value is latched into the output register and made available as the digital output. The speed of this conversion increases as the bits of the DAC increases.
