The AD7945BN is a multifunction digital-to-analog converter that is ideally suited for industrial and/or control type applications. Digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are devices that convert binary digital codes into corresponding continuous analog signals. The AD7945BN can be used to convert digital data, such as a number sequence, into a smoothly varying analog output, such as a sine wave. It can also be used to generate an analog voltage proportional to a digital input, such as a digital temperature sensor, or to control a digital motor.AD7945BN all pins are double-sided programmed available, that is, unipolar voltage, bipolar voltage, and current outputs can be easily programmed. The AD7945BN also features built-in diagnostics which may be used as a guard against unexpected faults. The device features a 10-bit, read-only ADC (analog-to-digital converter) that can measure an analog signal over a wide input range. A built-in temperature sensor can also be read.The AD7945BN offers an ideal combination of features for industrial applications that require a high level of accuracy, such as motor control, power management, and process control. It can operate in either single-ended or differential input mode. In single-ended mode, the device can be programmed to measure the voltage or current of a single-ended analog signal while in differential mode it can measure the differential voltage or current between two nodes.The device consists of a two-stage amplifier, a digital-to-analog converter (DAC), a reference, and a latch. The amplifier receives the analog signal and amplifies it in order to drive the DAC. The DAC converts the amplified signal into a digital word. The reference is used to create a voltage reference for the resetting of the coded digital words. The latch holds the final digital output of the DAC so that the output remains stable even when the input signal changes.The AD7945BN can operate in both unipolar and bipolar voltage mode. In unipolar mode, the output voltage will range from 0V to the reference voltage, while in bipolar mode the output voltage will also range from -Vref to +Vref. The reference voltage is set by the user and can be varied by adjusting the reference voltage trim pin.The AD7945BN offers a maximum resolution of 10 bits, and its output is updated every millisecond. The device supports both straight binary and 2\'s complement coding for digital output.
