The EVAL-AD7961FMCZ is an Evaluation Board/Kit for the 16-bit, 8-channel, 125 MSPS ADC with internal reference from Analog Devices. Working Principle
The EVAL-AD7961FMCZ evaluation board utilizes a differential input architecture with four input buses to sample the analog waveform and convert the analog signal to a digital form. The ADC features a 16-bit SAR architecture that minimizes the differential nonlinearity (DNL) error and also allows for a maximum input dynamic range of 4V differential when driven with the full power supply. The input buses employ a 4-to-3 multiplexer to route inputs to the sample-and-hold amplifiers (SHAs).
The SHAs hold the voltage of the inputs for the duration of the sample period while the ADC converts the input signal into a digital representation. The AD7961 ADC then employs a pipeline architecture that samples the analog signal, converts it to a digital stream, and passes it along the internal serial data bus. The digital streams are then clocked out from the ADC through the serializer to the SERDES FMC connector. The FMC connector can then output the digital signals to external systems for further evaluation.
