AD9432BSTZ-105 application field and working principle
The AD9432BSTZ-105 is a high-performance, low-power 16-bit, 1 MSPS analog-to-digital (A/D) converter with an LVDS output. It operates from a single 3.3 V power supply, consuming only 33 mW of power at 1 MSPS. With an SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of 87 dB and a SINAD (signal-to-noise ratio plus distortion) of 81 dB, the AD9432BSTZ-105 provides excellent dynamic performance.
The device combines a low power, low cost PWB with a parallel-to-serial LVDS output, reducing 1.5 V logic levels to a differential voltage for lower power operation. In addition, the total error rate for the converters is consistently low—demonstrating efficient ESD tolerance. The device also includes a fully differential input, eliminating any need for input signal buffering and allowing for ac/dc coupling and wide dynamic range.

Working Principle
The AD9432BSTZ-105 employs a successive approximation process to accomplish its conversion process. Its A/D conversion process begins with the sampling of the analog input voltage at the device’s input. This is followed by the setting of a baseline of the successive approximation converter by the startup logic block. The analog input is continuously compared against the current baseline with the help of a comparator stage present in this block. The successive approximation converter adjusts the baselines depending on the comparison result and repeat the comparison procedure until the analog input has been converted into a digital word.
The output of the successive approximation converter is used to control a 10-bit DAC, which sets the reference voltage point for the comparator used in the successive approximation circuit. The digital output code of the converter is then latched for external readback purposes. During the digital readback period, the input sampling switch is held off to avoid any electrical noise problems.
