AD9626BCPZ-210 Application Field and Working Principle Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) are the components that allow us to interface the physical world with digital systems. ADC\\'s are used in many applications such as biomedical instruments, radar systems and industrial control systems among many others. A popular ADC is the AD9626BCPZ-210 by Texas Instruments. The AD9626BCPZ-210 is a 10-bit, pin-compatible, low-power, dual channel successive approximation register (SAR), ADC which is designed specifically to be used in space-constrained applications that require low power consumption. This ADC is suitable for portable medical equipment, cellular phones and industrial instrumentation. The AD9626BCPZ-210 is capable of different sample rates for the two channels, and can sample up to 2.5Msps for one channel and up to 1.25 MSps for the second channel. It also incorporates a wideband amplifier and an adjustable gain-of-2 amplifier.The working principle of ADC\'s is as follows: The input signal is received and converted into a corresponding digital representation. This digitized value is then stored in memory. The conversion process is done using the successive approximation register (SAR) method. In this method, the ADC starts from the most significant bit (MSB) of the data and then builds up the output data bit by bit by making guesses until it eventually reaches the least significant bit (LSB).The architecture of the AD9626BCPZ-210 is a dual channel SAR ADC with an on-chip internal reference. It is designed to operate at very low comparable power, with an input range of 0.6 V ± 0.3 V and a quiescent current of 0.6 mA at 3 V. In the AD9626BCPZ-210, an on-chip CDAC array is used to linearize the SAR ADC and is configured with two programmable gain stages that provides a low output noise density of 0.75uVRMS. It also includes on-chip fringe cancellation circuitry, a digital background calibration logic and an adjustable reference buffer for improved linearity and dynamic performance.The AD9626BCPZ-210 provides superior performance over a wide range of input demands, and is specially designed to preserve power and enable thermal shutdown.
