Direct digital synthesis (DDS) is a form of frequency synthesis that uses direct computation to rapidly generate a waveform which is then used for analog purposes. DDS is widely used in modern communication and industrial control systems to accurately generate waveforms, including signals ranging from a few hertz to hundreds of megahertz.
