The ADCMP564BRQ is a high-voltage, low-power and low-noise quad rail-to-rail comparator which belongs to the Linear - Comparators product range. Application field

The ADCMP564BRQ is a quad rail-to-rail comparator that operates from a single +1.8V supply and can handle large input capacitive loads of up to 20pF, enabling it to work with a variety of applications. It offers very good performance including high speed (625ns to 675ns typical propagation delay) and low power consumption (3mW maximum). This makes it ideal for use in applications where both power and speed are of primary importance such as audio systems, communications systems and instrumentation.

The ADCMP564BRQ is available in tiny 4-lead SOT-23 package which makes it ideal for applications where board space is at a premium. It also comes with several features such as hysteresis, open-collector output and adjustable Gain Set which make it particularly suitable for low voltage operation. The hysteresis offset adjustment helps to reduce false switching from noise and it also provides protection from RF interference. Additionally, the adjustable Gain Set feature provides quicker response times, increased bandwidth and faster settling times for improved performance.

Working Principle

The ADCMP564BRQ works on the principle of two differential input signals applied on two balanced outputs. It is designed to work with single or dual supply voltage. The typical operating voltage ranges from 1.8V to 5V.The maximum voltage vary depending on the supply voltage. The input signals are compared through an internal differential amplifier and the output will be the sign of the difference between the two signals. The output will be high if the difference is positive and it will be low if the difference is negative.

The ADCMP564BRQ also has hysteresis offset which helps to reduce false switching from noise. The hysteresis offset can be adjusted by varying the voltage on the GAIN SET pin. The higher the voltage on the Gain Set pin, the lower the hysteresis offset. The comparator also has an open-collector output which allows the output to be pushed to a higher voltage than the supply voltage by using an external pull-up resistor.
