The ADG201AKPZ is an interface-analog switch, multiplexer, and demultiplexer IC manufactured by Analog Devices.
This device is a low-voltage, CMOS quad 2x1 analog multiplexer and demultiplexer. It is designed to operate from a single +2.7 to +5.5-volt supply and temperature range of –40°C to +85°C. This multiplexer has a 2x1 multiplexer/demultiplexer. It provides control of four analog signals and enables the user to configure two of its channels as either a multiplexer or a demultiplexer.
The device contains two independent 2x1 multiplexer and demultiplexer channels. Each channel consists of two independent analog switches with rail-to-rail CMOS logic control. It can select one of the two input signals and direct them to a common output. It also enables unidirectional signal transfer from a common input to either of the two outputs. This device provides an analog signal switching solution with an industry-wide control logic that is compatible with most analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs).
The ADG201AKPZ multiplexer and demultiplexer has a very low switch on-resistance (RDSON) of 11 Ω (max.) at VDD = 5 V. This low switch on-resistance ensures low power consumed in switched mode operations. It also features fast switch closure and a low-leakage current of 10 nA (max). Furthermore, this device is ESD protected with a human-body model (HBM) rating of 2 kV and machine-model (MM) rating of 200 V.
The ADG201AKPZ is widely used across applications such as data acquisition systems, signal routing and switching systems, transducer signal conditioning systems, telecom networks, server chassis, automatic test equipment, automotive hybrid and electric vehicles, industrial automation equipment, motor control and Human-machine interface (HMI).
In data acquisition systems, its low-impedance switches enable signal routing signals between different circuit nodes. Its low-resistance switches minimize signal distortion in signal routing or signal conditioning applications. Similarly, in transducer signal conditioning systems the device aids in signal sensing, measurement and control.
The mobile telecom networks utilize the ADG201AKPZ device for signal routing, signal control and for switching purposes. In server chassis, the multiplexer and demultiplexer are used for connecting/disconnecting redundant power paths and low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS), to minimize power consumption. In the automotive hybrid and electric vehicles, the device is used for signal routing and for battery management.
