ADG729BRU-REEL is an advanced, low on-resistance, low voltage and low charge injection, CMOS analog switching integrated circuit. It is designed to operate from 1.8V to 5.5V power supplies and to provide high performance for impedance bridging, sample-and-hold, and single-pole/double-throw (SPDT) applications in portable and multimedia products.

The device is available in both 1-of-8, 2-of-4, and 4-of-2 multiplexer/demultiplexer configurations, and is primarily designed for analog signal switching applications. Its low on-resistance, tight tracking between channels, low charge injection, and wide analog signal range extends its applicability to various audio, low frequency, wide bandwidth, and high voltage applications. The device provides low ON-resistance (R ON ) overvoltage protection, allowing a bidirectional signal, while internal back termination resistors improve the immunity of the device to the external noise.

Application Field and Working Principle

ADG729BRU-REEL is suitable for audio, high speed, precision, and low voltage signal switching applications. Motors, relays, and crank handles can be driven by the multiplexer; sample-and-hold and low frequency signal switching applications are also covered by the device. As an example, the device can be used in video processing applications to switch composite video and S-Video signals, while audio amplification circuits can use the device to switch amplified audio signals. The ADG729BRU-REEL features a 24 VDD static supply voltage to provide source and sink protection, allowing a bidirectional signal, while internal back termination resistors improve the immunity of the device to the external noise. The device offers two sets of eight CMOS SPDT switches in 2-of-4 and 4-of-2 multiplexer/demultiplexer configurations, with Ron of 8 Ω and 10 Ω respectively. The characteristic impedances of the device are 50 Ω for the 2-of-4 configuration and 40 Ω for the 4-of-2 configuration. It also has an integrated charge pump, providing the user with stable operation and low total power dissipation.

The Ron of the device is controlled by four ports: Analog Input (AI), Sense (SENS), Control (CTRL), and Enable (EN). AI provides the analog input signal to be switched, while SENS measures the current flowing through the switch. CTRL controls the voltage on the analog input, while EN is a digital port used to engage the switch. When EN is low, the switches are disabled and the analog input is only applied when EN is high. When the switches are enabled, the voltage on the analog input is controlled by a current source defined by the SENS port.

The ADG729BRU-REEL also has an integrated charge pump, providing the user with stable operation and low total power dissipation. The charge pump allows the device to be operated from a single 1.8V to 5.5V power supply.
