Application Field of ADM805LANZ
ADM805LANZ is designed to be one of the basic PMIC supervisors that can be used in a wide range of applications. It has a power-off sequencing function that can ensure orderly shutdown operations, a POR (power-on reset) that can provide a consistent startup logic and a wide 3.2V to 20.5V input voltage range. In addition, it also provides several configurable fault response signals, such as the output delay, pulse-stretching, pulse inhibition and reset mask, which can protect a system from catastrophic fault scenarios. Thus, it can widely be applied in desktop, industrial, consumer and embedded computer systems.
Working Principle of ADM805LANZ
ADM805LANZ acts as an autonomous supervisor for the power-up/down sequencing, reset response and system reset generation. The internal circuit includes a voltage monitor, a watch oscillator, a status register and other circuit parts. As the system powers up, the watch oscillator will provide a signal to the voltage monitor. Once the voltage reaches the target level, the voltage monitor gives an acknowledge signal to the watch oscillator. When the voltage falls to a certain level, the watch oscillator will trigger a reset signal. The status register stores the voltage data and send it to the reset signal generator for reset signal generation.
During the power-down process, ADM805LANZ will start a power-off sequencing signal process. At the beginning of the power-down sequence, a power good signal will be sent to the power off control circuit. If the control circuit detects that the power supply is off, a feedback voltage will be sent to the status register, which will store this feedback data. When a certain wait time is up, the status register will detect the voltage reduction and pull down reset signal to the reset signal generator to make sure the system powers off in a safe and orderly manner.
