Working Principle:

The ADM8691ARU-REEL has two primary control lines, an under-voltage (UV) line and a reverse-voltage (RV) line. If the voltage is outside the range, the RV line will be pulled high (3V) and an interrupt will be generated. The UV and RV lines are connected to the user’s microcontroller, so that the microcontroller can respond to the interrupt and take corrective action. The microcontroller can also read the voltages and currents in the circuit, as well as the temperature, via the supervisor IC.

Besides providing over-voltage, under-voltage, reverse-voltage and over-current protection, the ADM8691ARU-REEL also acts as an indicator when the circuit is operating in its optimal condition. During normal operation, the supervisor IC will indicate the GREEN LED, whereas the RED LED will be lit when the voltage or current is outside the acceptable range. This enables a clear indication to the end user, ensuring that the circuit is safe and operating as intended.
