ADUCM3027BCPZ is an application-specific 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 processor-based microcontroller developed by Analog Devices Inc.ADUCM3027BCPZ is a single-chip mixed-signal platform with integrated analog, digital, and embedded motor control peripherals. The processor core operates up to 32-bit 100 MHz frequency and supports both classical and trust architecture models. It was designed for home appliance, building automation, energy management, and lighting control applications.
The ADUCM3027BCPZ has an integral 16-bit two-cycle pulse density modulation (2CPDM) module that provides a high-resolution PWM for motor control applications. It also features a broad range of system peripherals, including 4 configurable serial interfaces, 2 FIFOs, quad 12-bit SAR-based ADC, and 2 timers.The embedded integrated system peripherals enable the offloading of complex motor control functions from the host processor and thereby reduce development time and cost.
The motor control application makes use of a three-phase brushless motor to deliver torque. It includes a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) generator and three Hall sensors.The ADICM3027 PWM generator provides the varying on-off times for the three-phase motors as required for Brushless DC (BLDC) and Permanent Magnet AC (PMAC) motors. The inputs from the Hall sensors detect the angular positions of the permanent magnet rotor in the motor and generate a corresponding signal, which is then used by the ADICM3027 PWM module to drive the motor in the required direction.
ADUCM3027BCPZ includes an advanced and integral motor controller module that provides a high performance, cost-effective integrated control solution. This MC module consists of an internal MCU, which consists of a 32-bit RISC processor core, a scaled, depth-first pipelined MAC unit and several internal peripherals such as 96-bit programmable prescaler, terminal-oriented selectors, high-speed synchronous A/Ds, comparators and several 32-bit timers. The MCU also incorporates a number of specialized registers, modes and control bits that enable it to operate the motors at the best possible performance.
The ADUCM3027BCPZ is capable of controlling two brushless or two permanent magnet AC motors simultaneously, with a maximum current of up to 2 amps per motor. It can generate up to +/-10V excitation voltage and manage up to 2 sensor inputs from Hall effect sensors or encoders.The PWM generator features up to 6 quadrature output channels for BLDC motors and two full-bridge outputs for PMAC motors.The processor core has a 32-bit internal data bus and a 10-bit address bus with up to 8MB of on-chip RAM and up to 8MB of on-chip Flash memory.
