AFK337M2AR44T-F Aluminum Electrolytic CapacitorsAluminum electrolytic capacitors or aluminium electrolytic capacitors, popularly known as electrolytics, are capacitors whose anode electrode consists of a piece of aluminum foil with an etched surface. The etched foil forms a large number of small parallel plates that are separated by a layer of oxide which acts as a dielectric medium. The oxide layer is formed by applying a control voltage to the capacitor, during manufacture. The oxide layer controls the capacitance of the capacitor and determines the capacitance stability of the capacitor over time.An electrolytic capacitor works on the same principle as a conventional capacitor but with additional features. It has two plates, an anode and a cathode, between which a dielectric material is present. The anode is an aluminum plate with a porous insulating layer on the surface called an oxide layer. Normally, a liquid electrolyte is applied to this oxide layer to increase the specific capacitance of the capacitor.The function of the liquid electrolyte is to form a bridge between the two plates, which increases the surface area in contact between the two plates, thus increasing the effectiveness of the capacitor. The electrolyte, which is a solution with a higher concentration of ions than the electrolyte already present in the vital solution, explains why electrolytic capacitors can store higher charges than regular capacitors.A cathode, usually a negative plate, is connected to some source of electricity to which electrons flow out of the electrolyte. When an AC current is applied, due to the polarization of the electrodes, current starts to deposit the metal ions on the anode and on the cathode grains of the dielectric material and the metal foils. The past charges, the capacitance of the electrolytic capacitor become less.
