AM5716AABCD Embedded-Microprocessors Application Field and Working Principle
The AM5716AABCD is an extreme low-power, high-performance sharing-core 32-bit ARM Cortex-A and ARM Cortex-M microprocessor from Texas Instruments. This microprocessor is designed to enable development of a wide range of embedded applications and brings the ability to singlehandedly handle data-intensive applications, large-scale graphical applications, and from low-power applications. The main features of the AM5716AABCD embedded-microprocessor includes a sharing-core ARM Cortex-A and ARM Cortex-M processor architecture, software-compatible with previous product families TI TMS320C6000 DSPs, 3D graphics and video acceleration acceleration, requires no additional memory to configure the core complex, and integrated high speed coreplex logic and multimedia. The AM5716AABCD microprocessor is used in many different applications categories such as applications with portable, industrial, consumer and automotive markets. Some of the specific applications the device can be used for are embedded industrial controllers, consumer digital audio players, low-power devices, portable data acquisition devices, home consumer entertainment systems, digital media servers, and automotive navigation devices.The AM5716AABCD microprocessor implements a sharing-core processor architecture in which two ARM processors are integrated into one die. The ARM Cortex-A processor runs Linux, Android or other embedded operating systems as its main processing unit. The ARM Cortex-M processor runs real-time operating systems and FreeRTOS as its main processing unit. The ARM Cortex A processor is the main processor and is used for general-purpose operations such as multitasking, real-time computing, better latency in graphic operations, video decoding and encoding and larger memory support. The ARM Cortex-M is used for embedded, low latency, control operations such as communication interface and sensor interface. The sharing-core processor architecture allows for a single processor to handle both general-purpose and control operations in one piece of silicon.The AM5716AABCD embedded-microprocessor is capable of processing, storage and communications efficiently. For storage, up to 1GB of DDR2/DDR3/LPDDR2/SD/NAND/eMMC memory can be integrated. For communication, the device has multiple flexible connectors and supports high-speed and low power transfer interfaces such as USB1.1, USB 2.0, PCIe and 40-pin expansion port. Lastly, it integrates Video and 3D graphics acceleration units supporting the H.264 and H.265 video codecs. In conclusion, the AM5716AABCD embedded-microprocessor is a powerful and low-power processor that bring immense amount of capabilities for developing embedded applications for various application categories.
