The AM5716AABCX embedded microprocessor belongs to the Sitara™ ARM Cortex family, which is developed by Texas Instruments, Inc. Sitara products are used in embedded applications such as industrial automation and medical equipments, security and monitoring products, automotive and embedded communications and other applications.

The AM5716AABCX is a low-power, industrial-grade device with multiple ARM Cortex Type-A cores and 3D graphics processing capabilities. The device contains four programmable ARM Cortex-A15 cores and four programmable ARM Cortex-A7 cores, which are arranged in a lockstep configuration to provide reliability and total deterministic processing. The cores have their own separate instruction streams, memory caches and local memory, allowing them to be used for different tasks. The AM5716AABCX also boasts a dual channel DDR3L SDRAM controller and integrated Ethernet switch, plus up to 64-bit wide Hyperlinks and 64 MB of on-chip memory. The device is designed for use in battery-powered and low-power applications.

The AM5716AABCX features an advanced 3D graphics processing unit, the OMAP™ GPU, which provides support for advanced 3D graphics applications. The OMAP GPU can be used for deep learning, computer vision, and augmented and virtual reality applications. The device also has a Programmable Real-time Unit Sub-System (PRUSS) which is used for low-level embedded system control tasks such as motor control and power management.
