An AOC4810 is a highly integrated array of five complementary MOSFETs that offers a wide range of flexibility in establishing desired conductance states. Each device in the array is independently controlled by its gate voltage, allowing a single voltage source to control the switching of up to five devices simultaneously. This makes them uniquely well-suited for popular applications such as relays, solenoids, motor drivers, and lighting controllers.

The AOC4810’s five devices are arranged such that the upper four devices form two upper and two lower transistors, each capable of forming an N-channel depletion or enhancement type of MOSFET, while the fifth device forms an inverter circuit with independent gate bias logic. This versatile configuration allows the AOC4810 to be used in applications that require both high switching current and logic control. To maximize compatibility with many popular logic families, the AOC4810 features an array of four operating gates and two control gates with each gate being independently powered by either VDD or VSS.

At the heart of the AOC4810’s design lies its MosFET array circuit, featuring four floating-gate transistors with independent gate biases and a single N-channel MOSFET forming its inverter circuit with independently controlled gate voltage. The N-channel MOSFET in the array circuit can be used to perform either a logic switch (high-side) or a low-side switch (low-side). The inverter circuit can be used to control these two switches, allowing for synchronous or asynchronous operation.

The AOC4810 also features a wide array of features that provide both added convenience and protection in operation. One of the primary features is its over-current protection, which senses when currents exceed their rated limit and shuts down any further current flow until the problem is resolved. The AOC4810’s over-voltage protection protects the modules against unacceptably high voltages, while its thermal protection monitors any increase in temperatures and protects against any potential damage. Finally, the AOC4810’s under-voltage protection enables it to detect when the supply voltage has dropped below the accepted level, reducing the risk of catastrophic failure.

Another feature of the AOC4810 is its ability to sense and control the gate currents between the devices. This feature helps to assure that the devices are operating within their specified limits and that the total power dissipation does not exceed the module’s rated level. This helps to extend the life expectancy of the module and decrease the chances of failure.
