Introduction

AP139-20WG-7 is a Voltage Regulator, Linear type, which RTZ Technology developed and released in 2020. It is a Perfect Isolated DC - DC Power Module, which provides isolation working environment and delivers 1W of output power with 205V to 265V of input voltage and 100mA of continuous current. The device is designed with a high-performance linear regulator for good line regulation, low supply current, low output distortion and low EMI. And it is a perfect solution for home entertainment appliances, industrial controls, automotive applications and etc.

Application and Features

AP139-20WG-7 is suitable for an isolated power supply and provides a cost-effective qualified solution with a complete safety approval. The device offers multiple safety and EMC approvals for the ideal solution for safety and performance in a high-end application. Also, it provides the function of over-voltage protection, which prevents the output voltage from over-running and potential impacts on downstream components. Furthermore, the RTZ patented smart boost feature allows customers gradually and automatically increase their output voltage to safely operate higher power demand applications.

The device has low noise and ripple, compared with other power supplies, and provides alternative solutions with reduced electromagnetic interference (EMI) problem. Additionally, AP139-20WG-7 has an overload protection feature, which ensures the output voltage remains at a consistent level and the associated device running stably even in the case of pushing current over the device’s designed capacity.

Working Principle

The AP139-20WG-7 is based on a linear regulator. It applies some simplified structures and technologies, such as high-frequency transistors with resistor–capacitor (RC) filters for the control circuits. It has a two-stage structure. The first stage is the pre-regulator, which is used to reduce the input voltage to a level that can be effectively regulated. The second stage is the regulator itself, which applies an error amplifier to feed back to the control comparator so that the output voltage is regulated.

The output voltage is determined within a resistive feedback path by an internal voltage reference. The internal voltage reference is compared with a voltage set by the user, at the negative input of the error amplifier. If the output voltage is lower than the required level, the signal passes through the amplifier, increasing the feedback loop’s resistance and bringing the output voltage to the required level.
