The AP1512-33K5L-13 is a DC-DC switching regulator from PMIC—Voltage Regulators, part of the new 1A 150KHz Buck Converter family. It is a high-efficiency step-down DC-DC converter with a wide input voltage range of 2.5 to 5.5V and a adjustable output voltage of 0.8V to 4.5V. Working Principle

The AP1512-33K5L-13 DC-DC switching regulator is a buck (step-down) converter, which steps down the input voltage from a higher level to a lower level. It utilizes a power switch (MOSFET) and an inductor to convert the voltage. When the switch is turned on, the inductor charges up through the switch and a capacitor connected to the output is charged. When the switch is turned off, the inductor releases the energy into the load.

The AP1512-33K5L-13 integrated circuit (IC) is designed with a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control circuit. The PWM control circuit senses the output voltage and adjusts the on time of the switch (the pulse width), so as to maintain the output voltage as close to the desired level as possible. The on and off times of the switch are determined by the feedback loop, using the internal error amplifier. The input voltage, output voltage and load current determine the operating frequency of the converter, which is set to 180KHz by default.
