The AP2191DWG-7 is a monolithic, single-channel liquid crystal display (LCD) power switch and load driver with high-side technology. It is designed to meet the requirements of LCD monitor applications with only a single channel being needed. It is ideal for consoles and portable computing products.
The AP2191DWG-7 is an integrated extension to the AP2175H series of power switches and load drivers which offers the added benefit of digital control to adjust load and backlight driver current. With this digital control, the user can achieve fine-tune power saving or the correct LCD brightness level according to their individual requirement.
Working with two capacitive communications channels and three control lines, the AP2191DWG-7 allows load and backlight current to be increased or decreased in order to reduce power consumption. By controlling the power switch, the load current can be adjusted according to the desired level. By controlling the backlight driver current, the LCD display brightness can be adjusted to a comfortable level. This can reduce power consumption, increase the displays longevity, and enhance the user experience.
The AP2191DWG-7 has inbuilt protection against over-voltage, undervoltage, and over-current. It includes a variety of low power operating modes as well, such as low power standby modes, as well as adjustable power level adjustment and control.
The AP2191DWG-7 offers a wide range of operating voltage, from 3 V to 28 V, and a wide range of output current, up to 200mA. It features an extremely wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for the wide variety of LCD products available today. It also has a power-on reset (POR) circuit, allowing the load current to be limited during output voltage startup.
