Working Principle:

The working principle of a diode rectifier such as the AR4PK-M3/86A is based on PN-junction diodes. When a voltage is applied to the diode, electrons in the minority carriers will be injected into the PN-junction, creating a depletion region. In this depletion region, the potential barrier is established and it will block the flow of electrons from the P-type to the N-type material. This is the reason why the current can only flow in one direction in a diode rectifier.
