The AS1336A/B EB is an evaluation board designed for studying and testing the rated performance of the AC/DC offline switching mode power supply. AC/DC offline switches are mainly used in signal lines, consumer electronics, communication power supplies, LED lighting, adapters and other applications. When using this AC/DC offline switch, the voltage and current of the equipment can be reliably controlled to ensure the safety and performance of the application.
Working principle
The AS1336A/B EB is based on a closed-loop AC/DC offline switch, which contains an isolation transformer, a rectifier bridge, a voltage detection circuit, an oscillator and a switching element.
The AC charger main creates an alternating current that flows through the primary winding of the isolation transformer. The output current is applied through the rectifier bridge and thereby converted into a regulated DC current. The output voltage of the rectifier bridge is measured by a voltage-detecting circuit. The voltage is compared to a factory-set reference voltage. The difference between the reference and the output voltage is detected and the control loop adjusts the switching element’s duty cycle accordingly. This control current is also sent to the oscillator, which generates a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal that is used to control the switching element.
When the switching element is turned off, the inductor current is transformed into magnetic energy to the primary winding of the transformer. When the switching element is turned on, the stored magnetic energy is released and the output current is outputted form the secondary side of the transformer.
Application Field
The AS1336A/B EB provides a complete evaluation platform to study the performance of the AC/DC offline switches in different applications such as digital signal lines, consumer electronics, communication power supplies, LED lighting, and adapter/charger applications. The board includes a powerful and complete programming interface that helps quickly and easily evaluate different scenarios to increase efficiency and reduce costs associated with the development of new AC/DC offline switches.
The AS1336A/B EB also enables the development of AC/DC offline switch power supply applications to ensure reliability in applications where safety and performance are critical. The board has all the features of the AC/DC offline switch including power factor correction (PFC) for converters, automotive battery regulation and battery disconnect detection.
The AS1336A/B EB is an ideal evaluation board for designing, prototyping and testing AC/DC offline switches. It provides an easy-to use interface and comprehensive documentation that allows for the development of high performance AC/DC offline switches with improved cost performance.
