AS1972-T is a linear - Comparators that is used in the majority of applications today. It has become a standard in many different applications from industrial to consumer applications. The device is a small integrated circuit that uses a comparator circuit to compare two signals, or voltage, and then output either a high or low signal.
The AS1972-T is used mostly in the control, sensing and interface applications in different systems. It is typically used in lights controllers, motion control, temperature control, and audio systems. The main application areas where the device can be found are the industrial, automotive and consumer industries.
The AS1972-T is a monolithic, charge balanced differencing amplifier that converts differential signals into an amplified single ended signal. It has high input impedance and very low output impedance. The comparator circuit can also be used to obtain fastest response from the circuit. The circuit operates from a voltage supply of 5-24V of either DC or AC. It has two independent two-way control conditions for low and high. When signal is higher than the threshold value, the output is high. Otherwise, it is low.
The comparator is an open loop system, as it amplifies the error signals coming at its input and produces a digital output based on the comparison. Its action is analogous to that of an analog amplifier. Since it amplifies the input signal before comparing it, the circuit is more suitable for noisy environments and able to maintain very high accuracy.
Moreover, the AS1972-T device can be used for measuring the speed of rotation of motors. Through the application of this device and the use of a speed sensor in the motor itself, current information about the speed of the motor can be accurately captured. This, in turn, enables the control system to adjust the parameters of the motor as required, in order to maintain the desired speed.
The device also posses multiple operational modes. In the normal mode, the input is taken from the differential input and compared with the reference voltage and an output is produced. In the reference source mode, the circuit is operated with a single ended input and with a reference voltage as the reference, instead of referenced to the differential input. In this mode, the output of the device will be inverted when compared to the normal mode. The circuit also has a low-power mode in which the noise performance is improved and the input power consumption is also reduced.
The AS1972-T is a great device for applications such as motion control, temperature control, light controllers, audio systems and motor rotation speed measurement. It combines the features of a high impedance differential amplifier and a low-power comparator.
