One of the most important features of the AT27BV256-70RU is its working principle. It is based on the Float Gate EEPROM Programmable Memory cell array. This technology makes use of two transistors to store one bit of information, often known as a "bit cell". It consists of a control transistor and a floating-gate transistor. A Fowler-Nordheim Tunneling is used to program and erase the device. This provides a high endurance program/erase cycle of minimum 100K program/erase cycles, with a data retention of 10 years. A powering up Clear operation helps to clear out all bit cells in the device.
