Working Principle of AT27C800-12JC

AT27C800-12JC isa non-volatile memory chip which means it doesn’t lose its content even when the power is turned off. Operation of this chip is based on Fowler–Nordheim tunneling theory. This principle states that electrons can be tunnel from the floating gate to the control gate and vice versa by applying suitable voltages. This chip is based on a NAND memory cell and consists of two transistors within a single cell. These transistors are connected in a series configuration.

The two transistors are used to program and erase the memory cells. To program the memory cell both transistors must be turned on by applying suitable voltage. On the other hand, to erase the cell, the transistors must be turned off. This chip can also be programmed through software and is capable of storing up to 8 megabits of data in its single chip.

AT27C800-12JC chip is widely used due to its wide array of features and its ability to store large amounts of data. It is also used in many automotive and consumer electronics applications which require large amounts of data storage.
