The multiple-chip enable feature allows multiple AT28C256-15DM devices to be connected to the same address and data bus. The on-chip write enable control feature allows users to coordinate the write operation of the device with the other devices connected to the bus.The AT28C256-15DM devices are available in a small footprint package, making it an excellent choice for applications in which space is at a premium. It has an operating voltage range from 3V to 5.5V and features a –40°C to +85°C temperature range. In terms of working principle, the device works by using a series of cells that are able to hold electrical charges that represent the state of a bit. Every cell contains two transistors, each of which contains two capacitors. One of the capacitors acts as a floating gate, while the other acts as a control gate. A voltage applied to the control gate will cause electrons to flow through the floating gate, thus altering the charge stored in the cell. Data can be written to the device by placing the device into write mode, followed by the input of the data to be written. An erase operation is required prior to the first write operation.
