Memory
AT29C512-70JC is a nonvolatile memory chip developed by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and manufactured using the 0.8-micron Advanced CMOS process. It is designed to fill the gap in the large memory capacity of EPROM and EEPROM, using the OTP one-time programmable technology.
AT29C512-70JC features 64KBytes of OTP high density EEPROM organized in a 32Kx16 memory array which eliminates the need for an external counter. The chip also includes a selection block so that 2 or 4 Kbits division can be easily selected. The chip also has a 256-byte EEPROM backup area that keeps data even if the power is off.

Working principle
AT29C512-70JC is built using two transistors and two capacitors. When the transistor is turned on, the capacitor charges, allowing current to flow through the transistor. This sets the voltage level in the chip. Once the voltage level is set, the capacitor can be discharged, leaving the voltage level in the chip. This is the basis for nonvolatile memory. The data in the chip is secured when it is not necessary for a software program to change the data. This prevents accidental changes to the data, and makes it impossible to overwrite valuable information that has been stored in the chip.
