AT93C66 is a low-power, 16K-bit static, non-volatile EEPROM chip. It is characterized by low voltage operation, low current read/write/erase, high data retention and high endurance of write/erase operations.

The AT93C66 is offered in 3 different configurations (8-Kb, 16-Kb, and 64-Kb) of the same pin-out and in two different packages (SO-8 and TSSOP-14). Standard products are shipped in the SOIC-8 package.

AT93C66-10PC application field

The AT93C66-10PC has a capacity of 16KB and can be used for data logging, SRAM memory replacement and other applications. It generally finds its application in the following:

  • Data-logging - Each page can store up to 25 years worth of data.

AT93C66-10PC working principle

The AT93C66-10PC is built on a standard CMOS process and uses two-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) to transfer data serially. The device is organized as 512 pages each of 32 bits, with a total storage capacity of 16K bits. It has an array of high voltage detect control circuits capable of detecting programming voltage levels to within 0.5V.

The AT93C66-10PC uses a two-wire serial interface for write and read operations, which can be operated from 2.7V to 5.5V supply voltage. All write/erase operations require 12V/15V erasing or programming voltage and can be generated on-chip. This eliminates the need for an external high voltage generator or adapter.

The AT93C66-10PC can be programmed in three different modes: Byte Mode, Word Mode and Page Mode. The Byte and Word modes are used to program the device with individual bytes and words. The Page Mode is used to program multiple words at the same time. The device can be programmed to any address within a page.

The AT93C66-10PC has an array of special features such as auto-load, sequentially addressable memory, non-volatility, multi-byte/word write, 3-byte/word read, page erase, write protect, and write protection verify.

The read/write/erase times are very fast (3 ms, 8 ms and 8 ms respectively). The write/erase endurance is unlimited.

The AT93C66-10PC is also protected from inadvertent modification due to its write protection circuitry. It provides a valid write protect signal that can be checked by monitoring the voltage at the write protect pin. The write protect signal can be supplied by the system to prevent writes or erases from being executed.

The AT93C66-10PC is an ideal solution for data logging application. Its low power operation and wide supply voltage range make it the perfect choice for portable or battery operated systems.
