ATMEGA162-16PJ is a powerful yet low-cost microcontroller family introduced by Atmel Inc., renowned semiconductor manufacturer. It is designed for a wide array of applications like motor control, security systems, data acquisition, embedded systems, communication and automation. The device is based on ATmega162 core and has an on-chip flash memory with 2-16kByte and 512 bytes RAM.

ATMEGA162-16PJ features a complete 16-bit AVR microcontroller which is the largest family among AVR micro controller currently. The device can be operated at a speed of 12Mhz and has a 8K bytes of Flash memory for program storage. Besides, it also provides extensive pins for data and address lines to communicate peripherals or external devices.
