ATSAM3N1AA-MU Embedded - Microcontrollers Application Field and Working PrincipleThe Atmel SAM3N1AA-MU microcontroller is an ARM® Cortex®-M3 based embedded microcontroller. This 8-bit microcontroller is designed to provide enhanced performance, high integration and low-power capabilities. It is an ideal solution for a wide range of low-end embedded applications such as motor control, industrial automation, appliances, internet of things, lighting, automotive and more. It is manufactured in ATSAME3N1AA-MU package and is available in both 40-pin narrow-body BGA and 56-pin ultra-wide body BGA packages.
The SAM3N1AA-MU microcontroller is based on the ARM® cortex®-M3 architecture. The ARM® cortex®-M3 architecture is a 32-bit processor core based on the powerful ARM® Thumb®-2 instruction set. This architecture can be used in secure, energy efficient and low-power embedded applications. The ARM® cortex®-M3 processor core offers an optimized mix of digital signal processing, timing and control features designed for optimal embedded systems performance.
The SAM3N1AA-MU microcontroller supports up to 32Kb of Flash memory and 8Kb of SRAM. It is also equipped with a wide variety of peripherals including a two-channel Direct Memory Access (DMA) controller, two External Memory Interfaces (EMI) and two UARTs (Universal Asynchronous Receiver / Transmitter). Each of these peripherals has separate functions and serves specific purposes. The DMA controller allows fast transfer of data to and from other peripherals, the EMI is used for allowing the CPU access to external memory and the UARTs are used for communication with other devices.
The SAM3N1AA-MU microcontroller also has an on-chip low-power analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This ADC is capable of sampling up to 12 channels and provides 14-bit resolution.
