The AZ1085CS2-ADJTRG1 is a low-power, low-dropout linear regulator, designed to provide low-noise, low-ripple regulated power supply with a minimum of external components. It operates from input supply voltages of +2.5 to +7.5V.

Working Principle

The AZ1085CS2-ADJTRG1 is a three-terminal adjustable voltage regulator which includes a voltage reference, an error amplifier, a series pass transistor and an output stage. The reference can be adjusted from 1.2V to 7.9V with a resistor in the adjustment terminal. The output voltage is obtained by applying a voltage to the adjustment terminal of the regulator, which is proportional to the reference voltage. A difference between the feedback voltage and this control voltage is amplified by the error amplifier and then applied to the series pass transistor, which regulates the output voltage.

The series pass transistor is an N-channel MOSFET device. It holds a constant voltage drop between the output and input terminals to maintain the regulated output voltage. The output voltage of the voltage regulator is independent of line and load conditions, which makes it ideal for low voltage DC power applications.
