Aluminum electrolytic capacitors, commonly known as electrolytic capacitors or electrolytically formed capacitors, are polarized capacitors whose anode electrode (+) is made of a pure aluminum foil with an etched surface. An insulating oxide layer is grown on the etched surface through anodizing and acts as the dielectric material. In most electrolytic capacitors, the active material is electrolyte, which acts as the cathode (-).
B41231C3279M000 is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor manufactured by Wurth Elektronik. It is available in three different capacitance values of 10µF, 15µF and 20µF. The B41231C3279M000 capacitors feature a lifetime of 1000 hours and are rated for operation from -55°C to +125°C. Working Principle
The working principle of the B41231C3279M000 aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on its ability to store charge within two layers of electrically conductive materials. The anode (positive) and cathode (negative) electrodes are electrically separated by the insulating oxide layer (dielectric). By applying a voltage across the electrodes, an electric field is established within the capacitor, and electric charge Q is stored.
Aluminum electrolytic capacitors have the highest capacitance per volume ratio of any capacitor type, making them ideal for use in high-frequency and high-temperature applications. They are usually charged to two-thirds of their rated voltage and have a much higher ripple current rating than other types of capacitors.
