Working Principle
An Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor consists of a porous anode formed by a layer of aluminum oxide that has been deposited onto an aluminum substrate by an anodizing process. This layer of aluminum oxide is highly porous and provides a protective barrier between the anode and electrolyte. An Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor also has two polarized electrodes, the anode and cathode. Two contrast electrical connections are made at the anode and cathode.When a voltage is applied, the positively charged anode is attracted to the negative cathode, while the negatively charged cathode is attracted to the positive anode. This creates an electric field which causes the anode and cathode to be attracted to each other. This field also causes electrical charges to flow between the two electrodes. This effect is known as Faraday\'s law of electrolysis and is used to create a current flow.When a capacitor is used, the electric charge is stored electrostatically between the two electrodes. This charge continues to accumulate until either the capacitor reaches its maximum capacity or the voltage across it exceeds its rating. A capacitor can also be discharged by placing a resistor in circuit with it, causing the electric charge to move from the anode to the cathode.
