Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are a type of capacitor consisting of two thin aluminum foils separated by a thin paper or film sheet which is soaked in an electrolyte and rolled into a cylindrical shape. The aluminum structure of the capacitor acts as the anode plate, while the electrolyte acts as the cathode plate of the capacitor. The two plates are held together in place by a separator material, such as a polypropylene sheet, which isolates the two plates from each other.
