Working Principle of B43540A5127M67 Aluminum Electrolytic CapacitorsThe basic principle of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is electrochemical action. The core construction of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is very similar to that of a electrical cell. It consists of an anode aluminum foil, a dielectric layer and a cathode aluminum foil. The dielectric layer is formed by a special chemical process. During the manufacturing process, the dielectric layer is formed on the anode surface, and a liquid electrolyte is applied to the anode. This liquid electrolyte reacts with the dielectric layer and forms an oxide film. This oxide film acts as the dielectric of the capacitor.Electric current is conducted through the anode and the electrolyte, while the cathode and the electrolyte are kept isolated from each other. When an external electric field is applied to the capacitor, a capacitor electric field appears inside the capacitor. This electric field causes a current to flow between the two poles of the capacitor, resulting in electrical energy storage. This type of capacitors have a large capacitance and a small equivalent series resistance (ESR) compared with other types of capacitors, allowing them to store more energy and to have a high ripple current tolerance.
