Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are the most common form of electrical capacitance elements, which are widely used in various power electronics and electronic circuits. They are typically constructed with two aluminum foils, which, in turn, are coated with an extremely thin oxide layer to act as the dielectric material, and connected with electrolyte containing dissolved salts and ions, such as aluminum chloride and/or tartrate. This phenomenon is known as the Faraday Effect.When an alternating current (AC) passes through the conductor, the capacitor behaves like an inductor. This is because the energy reservoir can store electricity in the form of a charge - and when the current reverses direction, it causes the charge to shift across the capacitor’s plates, thus creating an electrical field which induces a current (an AC current) in the same direction.
