PMIC - Voltage Regulators - Linear

BA00BC0WT is a three-terminal fixed output step-down Linear Voltage Regulator. It is a member of the family of extremely small voltage regulators. It includes internal over-temperature protection, overload protection, short-circuit protection, reverse terminal protection and output current limit protection. Due to their high ESD protection of up to 4kV, the regulators are particularly suitable for battery-powered devices.

Application Field

The BA00BC0WT is an ideal Voltage Regulator for powering applications such as: Wireless telephones, PDAs, personal digital assistants, monitoring devices, alarm systems and even automated industrial control systems.

The BA00BC0WT can supply up to a maximum of 500mA output current and has a low quiescent current of 100μA. The input voltage range is between 2V and 16V, making it suitable for battery powered applications. The output voltage is adjustable between 1.5V and 4.0V. As such, the BA00BC0WT is extremely versatile and can be used in a wide range of low-current applications.

Working Principle

The BA00BC0WT is based on the Linear Regulator topology. The regulator works by adjusting the bias voltage in its feedback network to the voltage set by the output voltage divider between the output voltage (Vo) and the reference voltage (Vref). The output voltage is produced by a linear feedback circuit which keeps the output voltage in the desired range. The higher the output voltage the higher the feedback current is. The regulator responds to changes in the output voltage by adjusting the feedback current.

The BA00BC0WT works by limiting the maximum current to 500mA and allows the current to flow in the same direction from input to output. The regulator has a low dropout voltage of 200mV and is protected against Over-Voltage input, reverse-battery, based currents, and electrical transients. Furthermore, its over-temperature protection allows the BA00BC0WT to remain protected even in long-term Load conditions.
