BAT54C-BO-E3-18 is a diode array designed for flyback power converter applications such as in consumer electronic devices, automotive and industrial systems. A basic engineering definition of a diode is a semiconductor device that has two electrodes and has limited current flow in one direction, but allows for a much larger current flow in the other direction. A rectifier diode is simply a generic two-terminal diode that conducts in only one direction, allowing current to flow only in the forward direction when it is forward biased. This is because of the potential barrier created by the "P-N junction," which is created by the junction of P type (Positively charged) semiconductor and N type (Negatively charged) semiconductor regions.

The BAT54C-BO-E3-18 diode array is designed to replace a rectifier bridge, doubling the current at each half-bridge leg, thus improving the efficiency of the circuit.
