Diodes are semiconductor devices that allow current to flow in only one direction. Rectifiers are a type of diode that converts alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). Single rectifiers are a basic type of rectifier, with one anode and one cathode in one package. One example of a single rectifier is the BAT750-7-F.
The BAT750-7-F is primarily used for power rectification, especially in power converters and switch mode power supplies (SMPS). It is designed for pulsed loads and provides very low reverse recovery time for improved efficiency. Additionally, it provides improved surge current capability and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection.
The BAT750-7-F is a fast-recovery rectifier, meaning that the device recovers very quickly when current flow decreases. It is a PN Junction, which is a type of diode made of two layers of semiconductor material with a thin layer of n-type material sandwiched between them. The n-type material is called the junction, while the two layers are referred to as the anode and the cathode.

When AC current is applied to the BAT750-7-F, the device will switch from forward to reverse bias very quickly, and then switch again in the opposite direction as the current changes. This switching of the bias helps to prevent power dissipation and losses, as well as improve efficiency.
