BAT760Q-7 is a high-performance rectifier diode with series of connected p-n junction. It features very small packaging and high power performance spanning from 5A to 200A. It is a wafer diode with ceramic bodies compared to conventional mount types.

The main application for BAT760Q-7 is for fast switching applications like switching power supplies and motor drives. Fast switching implies that the overall switching frequency is high and that the diode should be able to recover from current flowing through the diode and then be able to switch back to its reverse blocking state. BAT760Q-7 has excellent reverse characteristics to support this switching frequency. Working Principle

The BAT760Q-7 rectifier diode is constructed from two pieces of materials (or two layers) connected together in series: a p-type material and an n-type material. The flow of current is generated when these two materials are charged oppositely (p-material is positive and n-material is negative). When an external voltage source is applied to the p-material, charge is forced from the source to the diode, creating a one-way circular flow of current through the diode. When the external voltage source is removed, the charge in the diode dissipates immediately, creating a zero-current flow.

In applications requiring fast switching of large currents, BAT760Q-7 is an ideal solution because its geometry has minimized the total switching time and forward voltage drop. This means that more current can be drawn with less power dissipation than smaller diodes. Furthermore, its low capacitance and fast switching time means that the diode can be reuse multiple times.

Limitations of Use

BAT760Q-7 is perfect for applications requiring high current switching but has certain limitations when used in other applications. First, the diode has so much capacitance that it tends to reduce the accuracy of timing signals in digital circuits. Second, when used in switching circuits, the diode has to be able to switch its state quickly to prevent overloading of the controlling circuit. Finally, the diode is not suitable for applications needing low resistance since its forward voltage drop is relatively large.
