The BAV99DW-7 is a unique product in the diodes, rectifiers and arrays market. It is a two-diode arrangement housed in a SOD-323 (SC-59) surface-mount package. This is especially beneficial in applications where size and weight factors are particularly important. The BAV99DW-7 is designed for low noise, low input threshold forward voltage, fast switching times and high current ratings.The low power consumption of the BAV99DW-7 makes it ideal for energy-saving applications. It has a very low on-state voltage (max 0.6V @ 100mA) with minimal corresponding voltage drops across the diodes. The Vf(S) of the BAV99DW-7 is extremely low, allowing for the diode to be operated over a wide range of temperatures and currents. The forward voltage of the diode also gives it an advantage in applications where power dissipation and efficiency are key concerns.At the heart of the BAV99DW-7 are two individually isolated diodes. These are connected in antiparallel, so a positive and negative current can be conducted simultaneously. This makes it possible to use the BAV99DW-7 in applications which require fast switching between two different voltage levels such as in motor driven applications. The fast switching ability of the BAV99DW-7 is further advanced by its low reverse recovery time (tRR) of 8-10ns versus other similar components which have tRRs of up to 25ns. This significantly reduces the total power lost in switching operations. Normally the reverse recovery time is determined by the internal junction of the device, but the BAV99DW-7 avoids this by having separate p-n junction and external parasitic capacitance. This enables it to switch faster and require less power. The BAV99DW-7 also has a high peak repetitive forward current capability (IFM) of up to 500mA even at a total applied current of 100mA. This combined with a high surge forward current rating (IFS) of up to 3A for short-duration applications makes this component particularly attractive for automotive and other applications which require a high level of reliability. In addition, the BAV99DW-7 covers a wide temperature range (-65 to +125C). The BAV99DW-7 can also be used in clocking applications and low noise switching thanks to its impressive low input threshold voltage (VIF) rating of 0.7V maximum. This helps reduce signal noise and crosstalk when switching between different states. It also eliminates the need for transistor-level buffering and reduces power consumption in the process.The BAV99DW-7 combines the key features of reliability, fast switching, low power consumption and a wide temperature range in a single package, making it an ideal choice for a variety of applications.
