Working Principle
The BD4824G-TR is an integrated voltage supervisor that includes an on-chip voltage detector, an error amplifier, and a reset flip-flop. If the input voltage exceeds the upper threshold (OVP threshold) level, the OVP output is asserted. If the input voltage drops below the lower threshold (UVP threshold) level, the UVP output is asserted.
In hysteresis mode, there is a window between the upper and lower thresholds (BOD threshold) and if the input voltage enters this window the BOD output is asserted. This window size can be adjusted using a single external capacitor. The output flip-flop is used to ensure that a reset signal is generated when either the OVP, UVP or BOD signals are asserted. Furthermore, the reset signal is able to generate an active low pulse reset in order to provide proper reset synchronization.
The BD4824G-TR also includes a power-on reset (POR) circuit which ensures that the reset signal is asserted during power-on and held until the power supply reaches its normal operating voltage. In addition, the reset signal is able to disregards short duration glitch provided forward and backward spikes are not present at the same time.
The BD4824G-TR is designed to operate over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and is available in a space-saving 8-pin SOP package. It is also RoHS and Halogen-free, making it especially suitable for applications with stringent environmental requirements.
