The BDJ2GA3MEFJ-ME2 is a three-terminal linear voltage regulator designed to provide a regulated output voltage. It is a member of the PMIC - Voltage Regulators - Linear family of regulators. This device is designed to provide highly efficient DC power conversion in space–constrained designs.In its most basic form, a linear voltage regulator is a three-terminal device which consists of an input, an output and a reference voltage. An external voltage acting as a reference voltage is provided to the device, and the regulator then follows a control loop using the differences between the input and output voltages.The BDJ2GA3MEFJ-ME2 is capable of delivering up to 3A of output current from an input voltage not exceeding 6.5V. The operating environment can range from 0°C up to 125°C and the device is available in a small SSOP-16 package. The device can be used with a bypass capacitor for improved stability, an enable pin for controlling output voltage, and an external resistor to adjust the output voltage.The regulator uses a current mirror configuration to set the output voltage, and provides excellent line and load regulation values. It has a maximum dropout voltage at full current of 1.2V, a stable reference voltage output of 1.22V and a maximum temperature coefficient of 0.01%.The BDJ2GA3MEFJ-ME2 is well-suited to applications such as embedded systems, communications systems and instrumentation, where linear regulators are preferred due to their low noise operation. The device is also useful for automotive applications, especially in powertrain systems.The BDJ2GA3MEFJ-ME2 regulator offers excellent line and load regulation, low noise, wide input voltage range and is able to accurately regulate an output voltage in the presence of high current loads. The device is available in a small form factor and is suitable for applications in both noisy and space-constrained environments.
