If the output voltage is higher than the reference voltage, the loop reduces the duty cycle of the switch to reduce the amount of output voltage; if the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the loop increases the duty cycle to increase the amount of output voltage. This loop ensures that the output voltage remains constant. In addition to the voltage-mode control loop, the current-mode control loop monitors the inductor current and compares it to the current reference. If the inductor current is higher than the reference current, the loop reduces the duty cycle of the switch; if the inductor current is lower than the reference current, the loop increases the duty cycle of the switch. This loop ensures that the inductor current is kept within a predetermined limit.The BQ2004SNG4 utilises internal voltage, current and temperature monitoring to increase the overall robustness.
