ISL9214IRZ-T is a high-performance Lithium-Ion/Polymer Battery Charger and System Power Manager, a power management integrated circuit (PMIC). It is intended for use as a battery charger in Lithium-based portable systems and incorporates an integrated switch-mode power supply (SMPS) and system power manager. The ISL9214IRZ-T supports up to 5A charge current with a typical efficiency of 95.3% when implemented with external components, allowing fast charging of large battery systems with minimal power loss. It features a charge cycles control with low-battery voltage and current detection for battery protection. The ISL9214IRZ-T includes an integrated, self-attaining charge loop enabling constant-current/constant-voltage/float charge profiles for optimal battery life and stable voltage regulation. The ISL9214IRZ-T comes in a compact, 14-lead, 5×5mm QFN package and supports low-power sleep and auto-shutdown modes to extend battery life in many applications. It is designed to operate with an input voltage range up to 20V and is available in the automotive temperature range (-40°C to +125°C). The ISL9214IRZ-T is a multi-functional lithium-ion/polymer Battery Charger and System Power Manager solution ideal for use in many portable and automotive applications such as e-bikes, robotics, handheld electronic devices, off-grid solar systems, automotive 12V and 48V systems, and many others.The ISL9214IRZ-T supports two separate charging modes for use with a 10-cell lithium-ion/polymer battery or a single-cell lithium-ion/polymer battery. In 10-cell mode, it allows for the precise control of each battery cell individually, with charge cycle control and low-battery voltage and current detection providing complete system protection. The single-cell mode is intended for use with a single-cell lithium-ion/polymer battery, using an auto-termination feature to safely complete the charging cycle. The ISL9214IRZ-T also has a unique Skip Shutoff feature, which ensures that a full cell voltage is maintained throughout the discharge cycle, preventing over-discharge of a single-cell lithium-ion/polymer battery. Additionally, the ISL9214IRZ-T employs a Real-Time Clock (RTC) feature to keep track of battery cycles and provide essential data logging.The ISL9214IRZ-T is a highly integrated, cost-effective Battery Charger and System Power Manager solution, optimally designed to meet the needs of many modern battery-powered applications. By utilizing advanced MOSFET technologies, it is capable of delivering up to 5A of charge current with typical efficiency of 95.3% and features multiple safety features, reducing component count and system cost.
