The BQ24018EVM (Evaluation and Demonstation Boards and Kits) (EVM) board was designed to demonstrate the capabilities of Texas Instruments\' high-power-density, full bridge, fully-differential, synchronous DC/DC converter—the BQ24018. The BQ24018 is a 5V/10A integrated synchronous DC/DC converter with a full bridge topology designed to provide high integration, low cost, and excellent power density for applications requiring a high output current level and a wide supply voltage range. The BQ24018 EVM provides a comprehensive evaluation platform for the BQ24018. This EVM board is designed to operate as a high-power density synchronous DC/DC converter.
The BQ24018EVM board provides the user with an adjustable power supply output of 0.6V to 5V with a maximum output current of 10A. With this adjustable output voltage and current level, it is possible to evaluate the BQ24018 along with various power supply topologies such as boost and flyback. Its wide input voltage range from 6V to 24V also enables the user to evaluate a wide range of applications.
The BQ24018EVM board is a two-layer PCB populated with a 30-MHz 8-bit microcontroller, a 2A master-slave integrated switch, a 4-channel analog-to-digital converter, 5 differential digital-to-analog converters, 4 feedback loop controllers, and four push buttons that can be used to control the converter. This board includes an isolated power module for regulation of the digital circuitry and provides the user with robust differential signals to ensure that noise does not disrupt the operation of the BQ24018.
The BQ24018 is a powerful synchronous buck DC/DC converter that can provide efficient power conversion from input voltages ranging from 6V to 24V. This synchronous buck converter uses a full bridge topology with PWM modulation to achieve better power conversion, thereby providing high efficiency and power density.
