The BQ24038EVM is an evaluation module for testing, measuring and troubleshooting the performance of Texas Instruments\' BatteryCharge controllers and bq24010A-bq24042A batteryCharge multi-chemistry linear charge controllers. It is part of the Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits family. It allows users to modify, easily evaluate and assess performance of the BQ24038 charge controllers. This evaluation module consists of several components that combine and cooperate to operate the chip efficiently.The board is divided into three main sections. At the top is the power and charge circuitry. This includes a 3A Buck converter, fuel gauge, charge MOSFETs, an NTC thermistor, as well as input and output connections for the battery, charger and load. Power supply LEDs, charge status LEDs, and push buttons are also featured here. The middle part houses the BQ24038EVM itself and has VCC and GND connections to the chip. The bottom section is the MSP430FG4618 -based controller for charge and system configuration. This is the brains of the BQ24038EVM and includes two buttons, two LEDs, and two expansion headers for connecting to other TI development tools.The BQ24038EVM allows users to evaluate various features of the chip, such as charge current, charge voltage, fast charge current, termination current, recharge current, charge timer, and temperature monitor. In addition, the module can be used to measure system performance and parameters, select charge parameters, and benchmark charge parameters.
