Evaluation and demonstration boards and kits are useful for design engineers and students alike to test, develop and demonstrate their designs. The BQ24113EVM board from Texas Instruments is a evaluation and demonstration board used for testing bidirectional switching regulators, battery chargers and USB Type-C power delivery systems. The board uses the BQ2411x receiver dynamic FET switching regulator, which allows the board to have a wide range of applications, including but not limited to USB PD, Power Delivery, Li-ion battery charging, laptop docking stations and automotive applications.

The BQ24113EVM board includes multiple power management components, a BQ24113 switching regulator, a BQ24103 secondary charger controller and a BQ79606 battery monitor IC. The board also consists of various analog components, including but not limited to voltage and temperature measurement circuits, voltage regulation circuits, and various monitoring and control I/O ports. All of these components are laid out on a two-layer board with a Vcc supply voltage range from 4.2 volts to 16 volts and a current rating of 5A~15 Amp.

The board is powered by the BQ24113, a synchronous bidirectional switching regulator with a control input voltage range of 0.7V to 1.8V. The BQ24113 offers high-frequency fixed-frequency operation and is used to regulate the voltage from an AC, DC or battery sources. It has excellent current accuracy and low EMI and RFI radiation. The BQ24103 secondary charger controller is a non-synchronous bidirectional switching regulator designed to Voltage adaptation applications and Automotive Battery Charges. It has low RDS on drains and helps to reduce the power dissipation at the input and output of the converter. The BQ24103 operates from an input voltage range of 4.2V to 16V and has an output voltage range of 1.2V to 5.5V. It provides protection against overcurrent and short-circuit conditions and comes with an Integrated 4A Emulated Hall-effect current source driver.

The BQ79606 is a battery monitor IC that provides high accuracy current measurement and battery voltage measurement. The IC operates from an input voltage range of 2.4V to 17V and includes protection features such as an under voltage lockout (UVLO). The BQ79606 also includes a temperature measurement channel for monitoring battery pack temperature.

The board also includes several analog components to help measure and regulate the power being supplied to the board. These include a voltage measurement circuit, an output voltage regulation circuit, an input voltage regulation circuit, and a temperature measurement circuit.
