The BQ24610EVM-603 is a widely used evaluation and demonstration board for the Texas Instruments BQ24610 current-limited battery charger integrated circuit (IC). This evaluation board accurately simulates the real world application of a battery charger in order to determine the ideal parameters for the device.The BQ24610EVM-603 is mainly used in consumer electronics and handheld devices, providing a safe and user-friendly way of charging a battery in a variety of applications. It is designed to provide battery charging and monitoring of both lithium-ion and lead-acid cells, supporting up to a maximum of four cells of different sizes. It also supports Texas Instruments’ Battery Management System (BMS) functionality, providing flat battery protection and cold battery warm-up.The evaluation board provides current regulation of up to 5A with a 10mV current sense voltage, with a 0.2-25A adjustable current range. The board also provides a 4-bit display which shows the actual charge level, helping users to easily identify appropriate charging parameters and other important information. Additionally, the board includes safety features such as over-temperature and overload protection, short-circuit protection, and reverse current flow prevention.The working principle of the BQ24610EVM-603 is relatively simple. When the board is plugged in and powered, the main controller IC on the board continuously monitors the battery voltage of the connected cells and the set-point voltage which is provided by the user. In order to regulate and maintain the voltage on the cells, the BQ24610EVM-603 IC alters the charge current and adjusts the voltage on each cell. Once the battery is fully charged, the IC automatically shuts off the charging current and turns off the display.The BQ24610EVM-603 is a useful and versatile evaluation and demonstration board which provides an easy way for users to test, evaluate, and prove out the performance of the Texas Instruments BQ24610 IC. It offers a safe user experience by providing features such as protection against current overloads and reverse current flow. Furthermore, the board\'s adjustable current range, 4-bit display, and support for BMS capabilities make it suitable for a wide variety of applications in consumer electronics and handheld devices.
